Ballincrossig N.S. Christmas concert “Lights, Camel, Action,” took place this week in the school hall. All pupils attending the school took part, on stage, in the performance. The children were phenomenal with the event raising over €1,000 euro for the school, quite an achievement, for a small rural school! Local businesses supported the event “en masse,” with the raffle proving very popular as a result of the array of generous spot prizes donated. Businesses who supported were: The post offices in Lixnaw, Causeway and Abbeydorney, Pharmacies in Ballyduff, Lixnaw, Ardfert, Abbeydorney and CH’s Tralee, Butcher’s in Lixnaw, Abbeydorney, Ballyduff, Food stores in Lixnaw, Causeway, Ballyduff, Hardware stores in Lerrig, Ballyduff, Boyle’s in Tralee, Monson Jewellery, The Hobby shop, Kingdom Pals, the Vet Centre Listowel and Manor West Hotel Tralee. The whole community really enjoyed the event, with the Parent’s Association providing refreshments on the night, as well as decorating the hall and one parent even making all the costumes and back drop for the performance. An array of handmade, beautifully decorated, Christmas ornaments crafted by the pupils, with assistance from some of the Mother’s on the Parents’ Association, were also on sale on the night proving very popular with both young and old alike. “It is the highlight of the seasonal calendar, in our local community. A great evening’s entertainment was had by all,” said Principal of Ballincrossig N.S. Dianne Crean.
