Kerry in 2011 are gearing up for the next phase of growth in Tralee with a move to new, larger premises at Kerry Technology Park in the town.The new premises were officially opened this morning by Minister for Diaspora Affairs, Jimmy Deenihan TD.JRI America, Inc., is a subsidiary of the Japanese IT financial services company Japan Research Institute Ltd. (JRI) which is the specialist IT subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG). SMFG owns Japan’s second largest bank Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) by asset size and is a Fortune Global 200 company. They offer a broad range of financial services, primarily banking related. The group is also engaged in leasing, securities, credit cards, mortgage securitization, venture capital and other credit related businesses. SMFG employs 68,000 people worldwide with a stated objective of further global expansion.The Tralee operation supports the group’s Western Hemisphere IT operations including US, Europe, Moscow, Dubai and other markets. The team in Tralee has grown to almost 70 staff since the initial announcement in late 2011. Speaking at the official opening this morning, Minister Deenihan said: “Having made the announcement back in 2011 of this company establishing a software development operation in Tralee, I’m delighted to see it having grown and developed to the extent that necessitates this move to new and bigger offices. It is a huge endorsement of the region’s ability to attract and retain global technology companies and will act as a great exemplar for such. It’s also a huge vote of confidence in the local business environment and skills pool. I congratulate JRI America on their success and extend all good wishes for the future.”Michael O’Dea, President of JRI America Inc. said: “JRI America, working together with the IDA, Kerry Technology Park, Shannon Development, the Institute of Technology Tralee, Kerry County Council and a strong network of partners is very pleased to announce the expansion of our operations in Tralee. Since the opening of our original office space just over four years ago we have broadened the mission of the technology office from development and quality assurance into engineering, operations and information security. Staff has grown over twenty-fold in that time to nearly 70 employees.
