The AXA Roadsafe Roadshow in conjunction with An Garda Siochana will deliver a hard-hitting road safety message to over 900 Kerry Transition Year Students at The INEC Killarney Today.This event is organised with the dedication of local emergency services and the support of An Garda Siochana, Kerry Fire Service and the National Ambulance Service.In 2013, 190 people lost their lives and 318 suffered serious injuries on our roads. To date there have been 179 fatalities on our roads , this is 8 more deaths than the previous year. To date in County Kerry , 13 people have lost their lives.An Garda Siochana are worryingly seeing a spike over recent months in driver/ passenger deaths, where no seatbelt was worn.We are hopeful that the AXA Roadsafe Roadshow will help to deter young people from falling into this category going forward by showing them the realistic impacts of driving with speed and the damage it can cause. The story is told as a sequence of events unfolds, by a Garda, Paramedic and a Fire Officer . Ann Tydings speaks about losing her son Padraig on his tenth year anniversary and how she still can't cope with the fact he will never be coming home. She talks about the real pain she has suffered as a result of her loss and how it has affected her family.
